Speed Succeeds at Santa Anita with Miles Finch, Final Boss / Monday, June 9, 2025

West Point celebrated two brave wins on the turf by Miles Finch and Final Boss at Santa Anita for trainer John Sadler, with both colts setting the pace and lasting with strong rides from Juan Hernandez.
Miles Finch landed a maiden triumph Saturday in a Cal-bred event. He is a 3-year-old half brother to John’s prolific Cal-bred champion Kings River Knight.
Final Boss dug in along the inside Sunday to repel a challenge from Genius Jimmy as the top two separated from the field in the stretch of a 9-furlong allowance, with Final Boss and Hernandez refusing to lose. Final Boss is a 4-year-old stakes winner, gearing up for stakes this summer at Del Mar.
West Point also is a co-owner of Integration, who delivered another big performance Sunday in the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes at Saratoga with a late charge that fell a head short of Deterministic. This was Integration’s second narrow defeat at the top level this year, following a neck loss in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf. He has proven he belongs with the division’s best and remains on the hunt for that elusive Grade 1 victory.
