Three Chances in Grade 3 Manila on 4th of July / Friday, July 4, 2025

West Point Thoroughbreds will have a triple threat for the 4th of July at Saratoga in the $200,000 Manila Stakes (G3) for 3-year-olds on the turf.

Reagan’s Wit, Maui Strong and Revolutionnaire will converge after several twists and turns in the last week expanded West Point’s representation from one horse to a trio. Originally, it was to be Maui Strong, a stakes-placed runner for Dale Romans. Then wet turf conditions prompted trainer Cherie DeVaux to scratch Reagan’s Wit from the American Derby last weekend at Churchill. And this week, Revolutionnaire joined the fray for trainer Miguel Clement because an allowance was uncertain to fill.

Reagan’s Wit is 7-to-2 on the morning line for the one-mile Manila, coming off a 3-length stakes victory on Preakness Day in the James W. Murphy. Jose Ortiz retains the mount, looking to continue his hot form from leading the standings at Churchill Downs.

Kentucky Derby winner Junior Alvarado takes the reins on Maui Strong, who is co-owned by NYRA Chairman Marc Holliday.

Revolutionnaire will have Hall of Fame jockey Joel Rosario aboard for WPT and Winters Equine.
