Very Practical stormed through the stretch with a well-timed rally under jockey Vincent Cheminaud to secure a maiden win Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs.

The 3-year-old filly settled in last place early and kicked in at the quarter pole with her big rush, getting up by a head.

Shug McGaughey trains Very Practical, a daughter of Practical Joke acquired for $180,000 at the 2023 OBS April sale of two-year-olds in training. West Point campaigns her in a racing partnership with Magic Cap Stables and Robert and DeLynn Abernathy. This was her third career start.
