West Point Horses, Trainers In Line for Honors / Friday, February 21, 2025

Awards season looms for a couple of distinguished West Point runners, as well two trainers who are in the running for the Hall of Fame.

Jaxon Traveler is a finalist in two categories, sprinter and older male, for Maryland-bred champions of 2024. The announcement for both titles will be made next Thursday.

A 10-time stakes winner, Jaxon Traveler has garnered two previous Maryland-bred championships: for two-year-old male in 2022 and for sprinter in 2023.

Graded stakes winner Gal in a Rush is a finalist for Canada’s champion female sprinter of 2024. Gal in a Rush traveled to Toronto three times from her New York base and came away with a victory in the Grade 3 Hendrie Stakes and a second-place finish by a neck in the Grade 3 Seaway Stakes.

Canada’s Sovereign Awards will be distributed on April 24 at a ceremony in Woodbridge, Ontario.

Gal in a Rush’s trainer, Christophe Clement, is nominated for the 2025 induction class for the Racing Hall of Fame, as is fellow West Point trainer John Sadler. Story from America’s Best Racing
