Wheels Up Now Runaway Winner at Gulfstream / Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Wheels Up Now was a runaway winner in a Gulfstream Park maiden special weight last week. He sure made it look easy.

“Once I made the lead we just coasted home,” said jockey Tyler Gaffalione. “It was so easy for him. I’ve always wanted to ride for West Point, and am grateful for the opportunity to ride a horse like this.”

“I joked with the team last week that all Tyler would have to do is hold on,” said trainer Tom Albertrani. “This horse was so sharp and on the bridle coming into the race that I’m not surprised he ran this well. Seven eighths to a mile seems to be his wheelhouse.”

“I’m really glad we decided to stay put and run in Florida instead of going back up to New York or a place like Keeneland,” said Terry. “This is huge for his confidence. We’ve always known he had a ton of talent, and he put the pieces together today. He’s by Smart Strike out of a Giant’s Causeway mare, so he’s only going to get better as he gets older.”
