Yinzer continued his development into a turf-winning machine Friday at Churchill Downs, controlling a 1 1/16-mile allowance out front and drawing away easily. The 4-year-old has now won three of his last four starts, including two straight at Churchill.
Yinzer once again played catch me if you can, but two rivals tried to make sure he did not have things entirely his own way. Both moved up to engage him along the backstretch, but Yinzer shook them off and had plenty left to put the race away decisively through the stretch.
Yinzer and Keith Asmussen have developed into an especially effective combination. Keith understands how to use the colt’s natural speed while allowing him to find a comfortable rhythm, and Friday’s victory was their fourth together.
