3 West Point Trainers Win Breeders’ Cup Races / Wednesday, November 8, 2017

Three members of the West Point training team saddled winners at this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Congratulations from the West Point team and Partners!

Jerry Hollendorfer sent out longshot Battle of Midway to win the $1,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1). A Hall of Famer, Hollendorfer began training for West Point in early 2016 and has several promising 2-year-olds in the barn campaigning for the black and gold. Also the trainer of the recently retired beloved mare Songbird, Hollendorfer now has three Breeders’ Cup wins and three Kentucky Oaks wins to his credit.

“Big D” Dallas Stewart won the $2,000,000 Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) with the long-striding mare Forever Unbridled. The daughter of Kentucky Oaks winner Lemons Forever is now being pointed for the $16,000,000 Pegasus World Cup (G1) run on January 28 at Gulfstream. Our history with Dallas goes back over 20 years, and West Point was one of his very first clients when he went out on his own after working for D. Wayne Lukas.

On Saturday, trainer Ralph Nicks sent out Caledonia Road to upset the $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). The daughter of Quality Road freaked in just her third career start and first try around two turns. The filly is owned by Luc Paiement of Zoom and Fish Stable and Charlie Spiring, both of whom are currently West Point Partners.
