The summer’s final days at Saratoga and Del Mar will bring an abundance of racing action for the West Point roster, with 12 horses lined up for races on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at those elite meets.
Sequist has the marquee assignment in Sunday’s Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Purchased at last year’s Keeneland September yearling sale, the daughter of Nyquist is coming off a debut win at Colonial Downs for trainer Dallas Stewart.
Junior Alvarado has the call on Sequist, looking to join Irish Smoke (2007) as a Grade 1 Spinaway winner for West Point and Partners.
Also on Sunday, Flightline will be a headliner at Del Mar as he makes his first start since an electric debut win in April. Delayed by a foot bruise this summer, Flightline tackles seven horses in the sprint allowance for jockey Flavien Prat and trainer John Sadler.
