Chance of a Lifetime for Winning Impression in Kentucky Derby 146 / Tuesday, September 1, 2020

Of 20,620 Thoroughbred foals born in the United States in 2017, Winning Impression will be among 18 (0.09 percent) to walk into the starting gate at about 7:02 p.m. Eastern for the big race on the First Saturday in Saturday.

Winning Impression will be #14 in the program but he will actually break from post 12 in a field of 16 following a couple of defections since Tuesday’s draw. Joe Rocco Jr. has the mount. 

Winning Impression is owned by 28 West Point Partners along with co-owner Pearl Racing. Jim Pearl’s daughter, Rowan, named Winning Impression after a Monet painting. The gray son of Paynter was purchased for $77,000 at the OBS April sale of two-year-olds in training.
