Chestertown Thrives in Fog, Slop at Aqueduct / Friday, February 4, 2022

Thursday was a grey, foggy day at Aqueduct and the gray Chestertown was right at home, obscured by “pea soup” conditions for much of the race but when the field became visible at the top of the stretch, there he was drawing off to a 4-length victory underneath Jose Lezcano.

A stakes winner at 3, Chestertown scored for the fifth time in his career for trainer Steve Asmussen. Four of those wins have come at Aqueduct.

Chestertown bounced back from a rough trip in his previous start on January 8 when he was promoted to third via disqualification in the Say Florida Sandy Stakes for New York-breds. He will point for the Haynesfield Stakes for NYBs at a mile on March 20.
