Four Shots for Glory at Saratoga This Weekend / Friday, June 7, 2024

Saratoga is home base for West Point Thoroughbreds and no surprise that this weekend’s Belmont Stakes festival will be a magnet for West Point partners and horses. The stable will have two runners, Kertez and Ohana Honor, in the $1-million Manhattan on Saturday, along with Signator in Saturday’s Grade 2 Suburban and Gal in a Rush in Friday’s Grade 2 Intercontinental.

Kertez is a Grade 2 winner already this season for trainer Christophe Clement and jockey Joel Rosario. Christophe thinks he would relish the opportunity to run on soft ground in the Manhattan.

Ohana Honor steps up again after responding to a challenge last time out when he finished second in the Grade 2 Man o’ War Stakes at Aqueduct. He won an allowance race in April at Keeneland.

Signator is 8-to-1 on the morning line for the Suburban with his Hall of Fame connections: jockey Javier Castellano and trainer Shug McGaughey. Shug has won the Suburban four times.

Gal in a Rush and jockey Flavien Prat rallied to finish second by a head in her first start of the year in the License Fee Stakes at Aqueduct and returns to the track and distance of a victory at Saratoga last August.
