Gold for Kitten Eyes Graded Glory in WPT Debut / Tuesday, December 7, 2021

Gold for Kitten, the final addition to the West Point roster in 2021, debuts for her new connections Sunday in the $100,000 Las Cienegas Stakes (G3T) on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita.

WPT and Hronis Racing acquired Gold for Kitten in the horses of racing age portion of the Keeneland November sale and sent her West to trainer John Sadler. From her previous Midwest base, she won four times in six starts, hitting the board in both the Virginia Oaks (G3T) and Ontario Damsel Stakes (G3).

In the irons will be none other than the Hall of Famer John Velazquez, who is off to a big start leading the jockey standings in his first winter based at Santa Anita.

Chestertown also will be in stakes action Saturday, tackling the Say Florida Sandy Stakes for New York-breds at Aqueduct.

The 5-year-old gray closed 2021 with a new wrinkle, cutting back to sprint distances, finishing second in the Hudson Handicap and third in an open company allowance. This will be his first-ever try at seven furlongs. Jose Lezcano has the call.
