This California-bred filly by Hard Spun combines a proven Grade 1 sire and an outstanding female family with the valuable racing opportunities available through the Cal-bred program.
West Point saw that advantage firsthand with Galilean, who scored 6 Cal-bred stakes wins, while also finding success in open company. It is a program that gives a talented horse more ways to build a productive career.
Hard Spun, a son of the legendary Danzig, won seven races and more than $2.6 million, capturing the King’s Bishop Stakes (G1) at Saratoga and finishing second in both the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). West Point knows his quality firsthand through stakes winner Keep It Easy and Grade 1-winning mare Hard Not to Love, who captured the La Brea Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita, where this filly will be based. Keep It Easy also shares the broader Hard Spun–Smart Strike sire-line cross found in this filly’s pedigree through her broodmare sire, Palace Malice.
Her dam, Miss Segura, is a full sister to Structor, who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) and Pilgrim Stakes (G3) during an unbeaten 2-year-old season. Miss Segura is also a half-sister to Always Carina, runner-up in the Mother Goose Stakes (G2) and dam of 2026 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Always a Runner. Miss Segura’s first runner, Echos of Violence, was a winner at two.
The family’s depth extends through More Than Real, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, and Australian champion Lady of Camelot, winner of the Golden Slipper (G1). It is a female family that has repeatedly delivered top-level talent on both dirt and turf.
She will be trained by John Sadler, whose outstanding record with West Point includes undefeated Horse of the Year Flightline and champion 2-year-old filly Super Corredora. And throughout his career spanning more than 40 years, he has consistently been a major factor with Cal-breds, including Galilean.
Price includes acquisition, training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2028.
