West Point, in partnership with Albaugh Family Stables, secured this athletic chestnut colt by Vekoma, one of the hottest young sires in the country. On the racetrack, Vekoma was brilliant, winning 6 of 8 starts, including the Metropolitan Mile (G1) and the Carter Handicap (G1) in devastating fashion. He’s passed that brilliance along quickly in the stallion barn— and was 2024’s champion first crop sire.
The colt’s dam, True History (by Yes It’s True), was a tough race mare who earned over $220,000 on the track. She’s from a productive family that has delivered stakes winners across multiple generations.
This colt is also a New York-bred, making him eligible for a lucrative program of restricted stakes and purses in the Empire State. From Saratoga’s summer meet to Aqueduct and Belmont (when it reopens in fall 2026), he’ll have many opportunities to run for significant purses and bonuses against state-bred company while retaining open stakes potential.
We love the combination of Vekoma’s brilliance and precocity with the toughness and consistency of this dam line. He’s a strong, well-made colt who should come to hand early but has the scope to train on into his 3-year-old season.
The colt will be trained by Dale Romans, a veteran, Eclipse Award-winning conditioner with a long history of success developing Grade 1 winners and top-class colts on the biggest stages.
Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2027.
