Dale Romans /Trainer

Dale Romans saddled his first winner in 1987. He has deep racing roots. His father Jerry also trained thoroughbreds, and Dale grew up on the Churchill Downs backstretch with him. Dale took out his trainer’s license at age 18 and has since trained over 1,600 winners. He has won or tied for 10 training titles at Churchill Downs and captured two training titles at Keeneland.

Romans’ most notable wins came in the 2005 Dubai World Cup (Roses in May), 2011 Preakness Stakes (Shackleford), 2012 Breeders’ Cup Turf (Little Mike), 2011 Breeders’ Cup Mile (Court Vision), and 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Tapitsfly).

Dale resides in Louisville with his wife Tammy and two children, Bailey and Jake.
