Heather Smullen oversees a year-round stable at Gulfstream Park in South Florida. She went out on her own in early 2024 and scored her first win that May.

Heather was a long-time assistant trainer and exercise rider for a number of succesful outfits including West Point trainer Dale Romans, as well as Ralph Nicks, Phil Serpe and Barclay Tagg. She was a work rider for classic winner winner Tiz the Law and champion Caledonia Road.
