Indispensable Eyes Oklahoma Derby / Friday, September 27, 2024

Vastly improved just in time for one of the last 3-year-old Derbys on the 2024 calendar, Indispensable is the 3-to-1 second choice for Sunday’s $400,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park.

Indispensable scored a breakthrough, rallying win at Del Mar on July 25 and followed with a strong second-place finish to Muth in the Shared Belief Stakes on September 1 for trainer John Sadler. John also entered Indispensable for Saturday’s Grade 1 California Crown at Santa Anita but decided to send the colt to Oklahoma City for the chance to keep him within the 3-year-old division. Reylu Gutierrez has the call.

Earlier on Remington’s biggest card, West Point has Jaxon Traveler as the 5-to-2 favorite for the $100,000 David M. Vance Stakes going six furlongs on the dirt. Jaxon Traveler rolled to a 2-length win there in OKC in an open allowance on August 17, landing his 10th career victory. Stewart Elliott rides for Steve Asmussen.

Pascaline won his debut at Colonial Downs and moves straight to a stakes chance Saturday in the $150,000 Laurel Futurity. He was entered for main-track only, and that is exactly what materialized as Laurel is off the turf Saturday due to remnants of Hurricane Helene. Victor Carrasco rides the 2-year-old colt for trainer Arnaud Delacour.
