Battle of Normandy and Joel Rosario nailed it today, a perfectly-timed victory in a high-class allowance on the grass at the Big A.
The 4-year-old colt scored his third straight win for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey and has now earned more than $450,000. Coming through again a week after a stakes win for West Point on Les Reys last Friday at Aqueduct, Joel guided Battle of Normandy in a tracking spot and they got the best of a three-way battle in deep stretch.
Battle of Normandy is a half brother to Cugino, a stakes winner for West Point and McGaughey this season.
West Point’s Joe Bianca said, “That boy Battle is what you’d call a keeper! Three straight wins, at three different distances, with three different running styles and pace scenarios.”
