Jace’s Road punched his ticket to the Kentucky Derby (G1) with a gritty third-place finish in the Louisiana Derby (G2) on Saturday in New Orleans.

The bay colt earned 30 qualifying points for the Run for the Roses, pushing his total to 45, which ranks 10th in the current standings for a Churchill field capped at 20 starters.

Jace’s Road is poised to be the seventh Kentucky Derby runner for West Point Thoroughbreds, joining Flashy Bull, Commanding Curve (second-place in 2014), Always Dreaming (winner in 2017), My Boy Jack, Winning Impression and O Besos (fourth via disqualification in 2021).

Like Jace’s Road, Commanding Curve and O Besos both finished third in the Louisiana Derby.

A son of Quality Road acquired as a yearling at Keeneland September, Jace’s Road began his winter at Fair Grounds with a front-running victory in the Gun Runner Stakes on December 26 for trainer Brad Cox.

West Point campaigns Jace’s Road in a racing partnership with Albaugh Family Stable.
