Jace’s Road goes for two wins in a row on the Kentucky Derby trail Saturday in the $750,000 Southwest Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park, with 20-8-6-4-2 up for grabs in qualifying points.

A 5-length winner in the Gun Runner Stakes on December 26 at Fair Grounds, the 3-year-old colt currently ranks fifth on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 13 points.

Joe Talamo, the jockey in Jace’s Road’s maiden win at Ellis Park last August, regains the mount as Florent Geroux will be out of town for the Pegasus World Cup.

West Point owns the Quality Road colt in a racing partnership with Albaugh Family Stable. He was acquired as a yearling at the Keeneland September sale. Brad Cox trains.
