Run Away Rojo put a bow around his fine 3-year-old season on Wednesday with a victory at Horseshoe Indianapolis for jockey Emmanuel Esquivel and trainer Dallas Stewart.
The Indiana-bred chestnut colt notched his third win of the year, highlighted by a stakes triumph over the summer in the Hoosier Breeders’ Sophomore Handicap. He has finished first or second in eight races in a row.
With Horseshoe Indianapolis nearing the end of its 2023 meet in mid-November, Run Away Rojo will return to Becky Maker’s farm in Kentucky, just like last winter when he received a winter break and came back firing. “Rojo” will have a circle around Horseshoe’s 2024 meet that begins in mid-April.
