Runflatout Ready For Grade One King’s Bishop / Wednesday, August 24, 2011

West Point Thoroughbreds’ top 3-year-old Runflatout arrived at Saratoga Race Course Monday evening for a bid at Saturday’s Grade I King’s Bishop Stakes.

West Point Thoroughbreds’ top 3-year-old Runflatout arrived at Saratoga Race Course Monday evening for a bid at Saturday’s Grade I King’s Bishop Stakes.

The Flatter colt put in a light jog/gallop Wednesday morning and will gallop Thursday and Friday leading into the seven-furlong race, which is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events of the Saratoga season. The competitive field includes champion Uncle Mo in his return to the races after after being sidelined before the Kentucky Derby.

“We know we’re going to face a tough group of horses in the King’s Bishop; that’s inevitable in a race this prestigious,” Terry Finley said. “But this horse has shown from the beginning that he is very talented. You should see him, he couldn’t look any better, and seven furlongs is his wheel house.”

Runflatout has two second-place efforts in Grade III company to his credit this season and has been training remarkably well leading to his upcoming start.

“He’s a very fast horse,” trainer John Sadler said. “Both of his one-turn races have been very solid. We tried him around two turns a few times and he ran well, but I think he really wants seven furlongs the most. He’s got a high cruising speed.”

Runflatout was assigned post position 3 of 8 on Wednesday, and will leave the gate under jockey Robby Albarado.

“We’ve had tremendous success with Robby in the past,” Finley said. “We won our first Grade 1 with him and Flashy Bull, and had great thrills with Macho Again. I think he fits this horse very well. Some Runflatout Partners are coming into town this weekend to watch their colt compete, and it should be a great weekend of racing.”

The King’s Bishop will be televised live on NBC Versus on Saturday. Post time is 5:12 ET.

Best of luck to Gold Megillah and his racing syndicate Partners on Saturday in Race 2 at Saratoga. The two-year-old Purim colt debuts for Kentucky Derby winning training Graham Motion.
