Following a gutsy second-place finish in the $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1) on August 25 at Saratoga, Seven Trumpets is very live in the $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes (G3) at Parx on Saturday.
The son of Morning Line has taken his Partners on a fun ride, and Parx is the ninth racetrack he’s competed at. Purchased at the 2017 OBS April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, he has three wins and three seconds from 10-lifetime starts and earnings over 350k. If you throw out his first race, he’s never been worse than second in six tries around one turn.
After running respectably in Kentucky Derby preps, the Dale Romans trainee returned to Churchill at the end of May, winning an off the turf allowance race. He then went up to New York and finished second to Firenze Fire in the Dwyer Stakes (G3).
Shown no love at the windows, Seven Trumpets went off at 32-1 in the H. Allen Jerkens. After breaking a bit slow, he raced about three lengths off the pace along the inside before cutting the corner and finishing gamely. He earned a career-best 97 Beyer Speed Figure and 6.75 on the Ragozin Sheets.
Seven Trumpets isn’t the biggest horse in the world, but he’s all heart and we’re so proud of his accomplishments. Hopefully, he earns a well-deserved graded stakes win this weekend.
Post time for the Gallant Bob is 4:14 ET. Seven Trumpets breaks from post 3 under regular pilot Robby Albarado.
