Ohana Honor and Dontlookbackatall will carry the baton for West Point Thoroughbreds in Graded stakes action this weekend on the turf at Keeneland.
Ohana Honor is listed at 7-to-2 for Friday’s Grade 3 Sycamore Stakes, back over the same course where he scored a 5-length victory in April for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey. This spring and summer he finished second in the Grade 2 Man o’ War at Aqueduct and third in the Grade 1 Manhattan at Saratoga. John Velazquez, another Hall of Famer, will take the reins for the first time on the 4-year-old colt.
Dontlookbackatall will team with leading rider Tyler Gaffalione in Sunday’s Grade 2 Franklin Stakes for turf sprinters. A 4-year-old filly, she finished a solid second in the $1.5-million Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes (G2) at Kentucky Downs. That followed three stakes wins in a row, including the Grade 3 Caress Stakes at Saratoga.
Christophe Clement trains Dontlookbackatall.
Both horses are hard to miss: Ohana Honor is a dark bay with a distinct blaze, and he has a unique dark tail with streaks of gray. Dontlookbackatall also is a dark bay, and her entire face is white.
