Unbridled Mary Caps Three-Win Saturday / Monday, June 26, 2023

Unbridled Mary put the exclamation mark on a three-win Saturday for West Point Thoroughbreds by rocketing home for her first stakes triumph on Saturday in the $150,000 Chicken Fried Stakes at Lone Star Park near Dallas.

The 4-year-old filly rallied from last place under jockey Hector Torres, angling through horses in the lane and rushing clear to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

Unbridled Mary won her previous start by a nose on April 22 at Santa Anita, where she is based with trainer John Sadler. West Point campaigns her with racing partners Pearl Racing and Pine Racing Stables.

Bourbon Ready kicked off the day by charging to victory in a turf sprint at Laurel Park. Victor Carrasco guided him for trainer Arnaud Delacour. Bourbon Ready scored his second win of the year for West Point Thoroughbreds and Titletown Racing Stables.

One more trip to the winner’s circle came courtesy of Empire Ride with a terrific ride from Trevor McCarthy at Belmont.

The New York-bred Empire Ride drew clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths and will head to Saratoga in pursuit of his third win of the year for trainer Tom Morley.

West Point also scored at Belmont on Thursday with Mount Up and on Wednesday at Horseshoe Indianapolis with Run Away Rojo in the Hoosier Breeders Sophomore Handicap.

For the season, West Point heads into the last week of June with 37 wins from 197 starts (a win rate of 19 percent) and $2,180,742 in purse earnings.
