West Point Thoroughbreds has finished assembling its roster of two-year-olds and has made the first wave of shipments to trainers in California, Kentucky, Maryland and New York.
The “Class of 2019” consists of 22 colts and 13 fillies, acquired at yearling and two-year-old sales for a total of $11.35-million and through private transactions.
Trainer Steve Asmussen on Wednesday received Chestertown, a Tapit colt purchased for a sale-topping $2-million at the OBS March sale. The highest-priced filly from that sale, a daughter of The Big Beast, also is in the fold with trainer John Sadler at Santa Anita.
And on the East Coast, Sedgwick shipped in to trainer Graham Motion last week at Fair Hill. Sedgwick, a son of Medaglia d’Oro, was the $1.35-million sale-topper at Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga yearling auction last summer.
