On September 11, Scholar Athlete broke his maiden at Woodbine for Graham Motion. The handsome son of Einstein is now pointing for the $250,000 Cup and Saucer Stakes for Canadian-bred 2-year-olds run at 1 1/16 miles on the turf on Sunday, October 11 at Woodbine.

The mighty Defondo drew in off the also-eligible list and made his way from Louisville to Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Kentucky on September 16. After sitting a perfect trip under Brian Hernandez, he reeled in the leaders to score by a length.

Cajun Spirit became the stable’s newest stakes winner when he captured the E.L. “Red” Erwin Sales Graduate Stakes on September 19 at Louisiana Downs. This is an interesting race restricted to Louisiana-breds who also sold in Louisiana as yearlings. This son of Bernstein out of a Smart Strike mare has found a home on the grass and will be pointed for the Louisiana Champions Day Stakes in December at Fair Grounds.

In a stretch duel for the ages, Aftermarketspoiler got the job over WPT Partner and friend Rob Masiello’s filly Pop of Color on the 19th at Laurel. Jockey Trevor McCarthy rode our filly perfectly, making a huge move up the rail.

Talk about a close one! Midnight Trace won by the slightest of margins earlier this week at Woodbine. Trained by Ralph Biamonte, this son of Scat Daddy headed up North earlier this summer to take advantage of his Canadian-bred status.
