B Dawk Takes Strong Kentucky Form to Turfway / Friday, December 16, 2022

B Dawk winning at Ellis Park on July 29.

B Dawk sure does love Kentucky, posting three wins in the Commonwealth this year between Keeneland and Ellis Park. How that will translate to the Prairie Bayou Stakes on the Tapeta track at Turfway Park in Northern Kentucky on Saturday is a compelling question.

Last time out, B Dawk held on to share a dead-heat win on the Breeders’ Cup undercard November 4 on the Keeneland main track. He broke his maiden there by 11 1/2 lengths in April.

The 3-year-old colt has prepped for the surface switch with a series of workouts on Keeneland’s synthetic training track.

The Prairie Bayou drew an eclectic, deep group, with In Love, a Grade 1 winner on turf, installed as the tepid favorite at 4/1 on the morning line. B Dawk and jockey Abel Lezcano are 10/1.

A few hours later Morning Twilight will take on fellow Oklahoma-bred 3-year-old fillies in the $70,000 Useeit Stakes on the closing-day card at Remington Park. Morning Twilight, with Ricardo Santanta Jr. in town and taking the mount for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen, is 4-to-1 on the morning line.
