Purchased at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York Bred Yearling Sale, this gray colt gives West Point an opportunity to get involved with the first crop of Arcangelo, the champion son of the late, great Arrogate.
Arcangelo won the Belmont Stakes (G1), Travers Stakes (G1), and Peter Pan Stakes (G3) during a brilliant 3-year-old campaign that earned him Eclipse Award honors. His sire, Arrogate, was one of the most brilliant dirt horses of the modern era and has already left an important influence through Grade 1 winners including Secret Oath, Seize the Grey, and Cave Rock.
Another strong Arrogate connection appears in this colt’s female family. His dam is a full sister to Schuylerville Stakes (G3) winner Georgie’s Angel, the dam of Cave Rock, who won the Del Mar Futurity (G1) and American Pharoah Stakes (G1) before finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
As a New York-bred, this colt has access to one of the most lucrative state-bred programs in the country, an advantage that becomes even more significant with the opening of the new Belmont Park. New York-bred maiden special weights at Belmont will carry $100,000 purses, with restricted allowance races worth as much as $108,000.
He will be trained by George Weaver, a longtime New York horseman best known for developing the brilliantly fast Vekoma, winner of the Metropolitan Handicap (G1), Carter Handicap (G1), and Blue Grass Stakes (G2). Vekoma has gone on to become an influential young stallion, earning Champion First-Crop Sire honors in 2024.
Price includes acquisition, training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2028.
