This New York-bred filly by Fire At Will offers an exciting combination of versatility, class, and eligibility for one of the most lucrative state-bred programs in the country. She is eligible for the rich New York-bred program and the New York Stallion Series, creating a wide range of opportunities throughout her career.
Her sire, Fire At Will, was a high-class juvenile whose versatility stood out early. He broke his maiden on the dirt in a stakes race at two before transitioning to the grass and capturing both the Pilgrim Stakes (G2) and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). That adaptability is hardly surprising considering his sire, Declaration of War, excelled at the highest levels on turf, dirt, and synthetic surfaces during his international racing career.
Her dam, by Verrazano, adds another layer of versatility to the equation. She was a useful and adaptable racemare herself, winning five of 15 starts and proving effective on both dirt and turf.
The Clement barn knows this sire line exceptionally well. Miguel Clement and his late father Christophe enjoyed tremendous success with sons of Declaration of War, including Grade 1 winners Gufo and Decorated Invader, two of the top turf performers of their generation. That familiarity with the family and understanding of how these horses develop should give this filly every opportunity to maximize her potential.
Miguel’s stable—based primarily in New York and Florida—has become one of the premier programs in North America. West Point Partners know the operation well through graded stakes runners including Carson’s Run, Gal in a Rush, Decorated Invader, Best Performance, Dontlookbackatall, Les Reys, Parnac, and Intricate Spirit.
