Independenceavenue Advances to Winner’s Circle at Colonial / Friday, September 8, 2023

Independenceavenue strolled to a 4 1/4-length triumph at Colonial Downs on Thursday in her second career start. The juvenile filly made a very smooth transition to racing after West Point found her through bloodstock agent David Ingordo at the OBS June sale of two-year-olds in training.

Arnaud Delacour trains the bay filly, a daughter of Mr Speaker out of the Grade 1-placed mare Off the Road. Independenceavenue finished a promising second in her debut on August 17 at Colonial.

On Thursday, the filly broke like a shot out of the gate but was content to rate off another filly before taking flight at the top of the lane underneath jockey Victor Carrasco.

Arnaud said, “It worked out well. She had a horse to follow and came with a run. She has a great mind and always wants to please.”

West Point campaigns Independenceavenue in a racing partnership with Scarlet Oak Racing and Marvin Delfiner.
