Thrown into the deep in just his second career start, Integration made an impressive statement igniting to victory in the $500,000 Virginia Derby (G3T) on Saturday at Colonial Downs and capping a wonderful three-day stretch for West Point Thoroughbreds.
The 3-year-old colt was the third winner on the day for WPT and fifth since Thursday. He is a fresh face having made his debut on August 12, and the new blood has kept on coming as two-year-olds Independenceavenue, Soho and Slider all reached the winner’s circle this week.
Kendrick Carmouche guided Integration for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey, and the same connections scored on the undercard on Saturday at Colonial with Ohana Honor.
John Sadler also accounted for a double with Soho (ridden by Umberto Rispoli) and Slider (jockey Hector Berrios) at Del Mar.
