Jace’s Road Steps Up in Iroquois Second Time Out / Friday, September 16, 2022

Coinciding with the Keeneland September sale, a colt acquired there last year will test the Kentucky Derby trail in just his second career start Saturday when Jace’s Road tackles the $300,000 Iroquois Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs.

Jace’s Road is 7/2 on the morning line for the Iroquois, which offers 20 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby on a 10-4-3-2-1 scale to the top five finishers.

Acquired in Book One at Keeneland September in 2021, Jace’s Road rolled to a 6 1/4-length win in his career debut on August 6 at Ellis Park. He was named a Thoroughbred Daily News Rising Star.

Florent Geroux will pilot him from post six in a field of nine for the 8 1/2-furlong Iroquois for trainer Brad Cox. West Point races him with co-owner Albaugh Family Stable.
