Rushing to a First Stakes Win / Saturday, July 6, 2024

Gal in a Rush achieved her first stakes win as a 5-year-old Saturday and did it with a new trick as she excelled on the Tapeta track at Woodbine, rushing home from last-to-first in the Hendrie Stakes (G3).

The bay mare had been knocking on the door in stakes company on the turf since her 2-year-old season. She opened her 2024 campaign with a hint of what was to come, as she just missed to stablemate Dontlookbackatall in the License Fee Stakes on May 5 at Belmont at the Big A.

Kazushi Kimura guided the daughter of Ghostzapper in the Hendrie and was patient as she bided her time in last place into the turn. When Kimura tipped her outside at the top of the stretch, Gal in a Rush lived up to her name and then some.

Gal in a Rush registered West Point’s 13th stakes win so far in 2024 (13-for-51, 25 percent).
