Strong Silent was extra strong and determined Friday when she battled through the stretch and prevailed gamely at Churchill Downs, notching her second straight win.
The 3-year-old filly turned back a long challenge from Palm Cottage to her outside, hanging tough along the rail with a fabulous ride from Corey Lanerie.
Strong Silent got some vengeance in the process: she had finished second in her career debut on July 3 to the same very same filly, Palm Cottage. Strong Silent came back to win August 3 at Ellis Park with Lanerie aboard.
The daughter of Wicked Strong will likely proceed to a stakes race next for trainer Dale Romans.
