After shopping the Keeneland September yearling sale in Lexington and picking up three newcomers, West Point Thoroughbreds kept things going in the commonwealth of Kentucky with back-to-back victories at Churchill Downs on September 20-21.
Dallas Stewart trainees Replete and Saints’ Girl both scored in sprint competition beneath Churchill’s Twin Spires.
Replete doubled up at his home track, where he broke through for a 4 3/4-length maiden win on June 28. Brian Hernandez Jr. piloted the Florida-bred gelding to both victories.
Saints’ Girl rushed to her second win in a row, despite five months in between races. She had received a break after winning at Keeneland on April 11. James Graham guided the four-year-old filly as she pushed her career earnings to $106,490.
West Point improved its record at Churchill in 2019 to 6 wins from 21 starts.
