Yaupon, a brilliant winner of six of eight starts including the Forego Stakes (G1) at Saratoga, wasted no time making an impact at stud. He finished 2025 as the leading first-crop sire and has carried that momentum into 2026, currently leading the second-crop sire standings. His first runners already include 12 black-type winners, led by Wood Memorial (G2) winner Albus.

This colt is out of a mare by Ghostzapper, one of the breed’s most influential broodmare sires. It is the same broodmare-sire influence found behind Justify, whose dam, Stage Magic, is by Ghostzapper. The mating earns an A+ TrueNicks rating, adding another strong pedigree angle.

As a New York-bred, this colt will have access to a program entering an exciting new era with the opening of the new Belmont Park. New York-bred maiden special weights at Belmont are worth $100,000, with first- and second-level restricted allowances worth $105,000 and $108,000, respectively. Those opportunities, combined with Saratoga and the expanding New York-bred stakes program, give owners tremendous options throughout the year.

He will be trained by Cherie DeVaux, whose program continues to operate at the highest level, headlined by Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Golden Tempo, Breeders’ Cup winner More Than Looks, and top sprinter Englishman, along with outstanding fillies including West Point’s Vahva and champion She Feels Pretty.
