Lady Fairbanks makes her stakes debut in Saturday’s $100,000 Railbird Stakes (G3) at Betfair Hollywood Park. A 3-year-old daughter of Pure Prize, Lady Fairbanks broke her maiden in March at Golden Gate Fields before running two credible races against winners in Southern California. Terry Finley and trainer Craig Dollase decided to take a shot in the Railbird after seeing how well Lady Fairbanks bounced out of a fourth place finish in a May 5th Hollywood Park turf race. Partners are en route to Baltimore to see Gold Megillah, WPT’s 3-year-old son of Purim, compete in the $100,000 James Murphy Stakes on Saturday’s Preakness Stakes undercard. Trained by Kentucky Derby winning trainer, Graham Motion, Gold Megillah returns to the turf after two solid efforts in stakes races on the Polytrack in Kentucky. “This horse always tries hard,” says Motion. “The past few weeks he’s really been full of himself in the mornings. He’s a versatile horse who’s run well on dirt, turf, and synthetic.” Continue »

European horses tend to love wet turf courses. WPT’s King Ting (IRE) sure did in his gate to wire win on Thursday at Belmont Park. Breaking from the three hole in the 1 1/16 mile starter allowance event over a yielding turf course, King Ting (IRE) needed only a few jumps out of the gate to establish control. Jockey Eddie Castro put his hands down and our 4-year-old gelding relaxed beautifully down the backside before kicking on down the lane to win by just over a length. He earned $36,000 for the win.
